Sundargarh, Mar 2: A youth has been arrested by police in the Kutra area of Sundargarh district for allegedly killing his widowed aunt, Sarojini Ekka, on suspicion of practising sorcery.

According to police sources, Sarojini and her family had been facing allegations and disputes with villagers over the suspicion of sorcery, which created a tense environment.

Unable to cope with the mounting pressure and driven by suspicion, her nephew reportedly murdered her, police said.

Upon receiving a complaint, the Kutra police rushed to the scene and recovered the body, which was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination. A forensic team was engaged, and an investigation was initiated.

During the course of the investigation, the nephew was detained on suspicion and, upon questioning, he confessed to the crime. The accused has since been forwarded to court, and further investigation is ongoing.
