Nuapada, Nov 9: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak is frequently visiting Nuapada Assembly constituency to restructure party organization.
After taking charge of Odisha Congress last year, Pattanayak is interested to contest from Nuapada seat. He has an old farmhouse behind Silada regional transport office. He is holding meeting with seniors and experienced party workers to formulatiing strategy for 2024 election.
Recently, he has met several senior party leaders who have joined other parties and is personally visiting old guards of Congress to strengthen organization at the grassroots level.
The local leaders are holding meeting in villages to unite party workers following his direction. Earlier Nuapada Assembly constituency was under Balangir LOk Sabha seat. Pattanayak was elected twice from Balangir Lok Sabha seat in 1991 and 1996. Nuapada Assembly constituency was included under Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat in 2009 following which he was not in touch with party leaders and workers of the constituency for a long time.
He has a good number of supporters and workers in the constituency which will help him in 2024.
Former district Congress president Ghasiram Majhi had secured 45,317 votes in 2019 and stood at second position. Pattanayak is trying to unite new and old leaders of the area eyeing a win in 2024.
