New Delhi, December 24: The Modi government has launched infrastructure projects worth approximately Rs 5 lakh crore during its third term, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Wednesday. The Cabinet has approved major developments across airports, ports, highways, and railways.

Key highlights include Rs 7,339 crore for airport projects at Bagdogra, Bihta, Varanasi, and Kota to boost regional connectivity. In ports, a new major port at Vadhavan, Maharashtra, has been approved with an investment of Rs 1,45,945 crore, aimed at strengthening maritime capacity.

The highways sector saw the highest investment of Rs 1,97,644 crore, covering projects like the Patna-Arrah-Sasaram corridor, Patna bypass, and several others in Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Bihar, and Assam. In railways, 43 projects worth Rs 1,52,583 crore will improve congestion, freight movement, and passenger services.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the Delhi Metro Rail Project Phase-IVA, which will expand the capital's metro network by adding 13 new stations.

These infrastructure initiatives underline the government's focus on enhancing connectivity, generating jobs, and fostering economic growth.
