Puri, Oct 21: Taking photographs inside the sacred premises of the Shree Jagannath Temple proved costly for one attendant (gumasta), who was detained by Singhadwara Police on Tuesday for allegedly violating the temple’s strict no-photography rules.

According to sources, the incident took place near the Pratihari Nijog area inside the temple, where the attendant was reportedly helping a group of pilgrims have darshan of Lord Jagannath. During the visit, he was seen taking photographs of the pilgrims- an act strictly prohibited within the temple premises.

On noticing the violation, a group of sevayats immediately intervened and alerted the police. Acting on the information, Singhadwara Police reached the spot, detained the attendant, and took him to the station for questioning.

As of now, the identity of the attendant has not been confirmed. He remains in custody as police investigate the circumstances under which the photographs were taken inside the temple.

The Shree Jagannath Temple administration maintains a strict ban on mobile phones and photography within the temple to preserve the sanctity of the site. Authorities are probing whether there was any lapse or intentional breach of rules in this case.
