Angul, Apr 3: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan began the election campaign by taking the blessings of Maa Dakeswari in Angul district on Wednesday.
Pradhan, who is contesting as Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate for Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, offered prayers at the temple of Maa Dakeswari in Brahmanbila village under Chendipada block.
Chendipada block comes under Sambalpur Lok Sabha segment.
Pradhan was given a grand welcome by the residents of Brahmanbila village. He was escorted by the residents to the temple of Maa Dakeswari where he offered prayers and took part in the yajna.
"I have been chosen as the Lok Sabha candidate from Sambalpur constituency and from today I am starting my campaigning for making Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of India for the third term," said Dharmendra.
He arrived at Talchar on Tuesday and is on a four-day visit to Angul district.
The Union Minister is scheduled to attend a party function at the Angul's BJP district office today. On April 4, Pradhan will attend various organisational programmes at the district BJP office and meet local leaders.
On April 5, he is scheduled to attend various programmes in Boinda.
