Koraput, Feb 26: In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics trade, Koraput police seized cannabis oil worth over ₹200 crore and cannabis valued at more than ₹5 crore in two separate operations, arresting four persons in connection with the cases.

Acting on intelligence inputs, police unearthed a temporary processing unit near the Jalaput Reservoir along the Odisha–Andhra Pradesh border. Officials recovered nearly 1,800 litres of cannabis oil and related extracts from the site. According to police sources, the estimated market value of the seized oil exceeds ₹200 crore.

In a separate operation, Nandapur police intercepted two pickup vans allegedly transporting cannabis to another state. Approximately 1,000 kilograms of cannabis, valued at over ₹5 crore, was seized during the raid.

Addressing a press conference at Nandapur police station, SDPO Sumitra Jena confirmed the arrest of four individuals involved in the smuggling racket.

Meanwhile, Koraput SP Rohit Verma said search operations are continuing in areas adjoining the Jalaput reservoir as part of the ongoing investigation.
