Balangir, Dec 4: Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag has alleged that he was verbally abused and threatened with murder. He lodged a complaint with the GRP police, who have initiated an investigation.
According to the complaint, the MLA was scheduled to travel on the Raipur–Visakhapatnam Link Express on Wednesday night when he noticed illegal migrant laborers being transported at the Kantabanji railway platform.
He inquired with the laborers about their destination, but they could not provide satisfactory answers. He also asked if they had valid tickets, but received no response.
The MLA then alerted the Kantabanji Town Police, GRP, and RPF, requesting that the workers be rescued and that a further investigation be conducted.
Meanwhile, more than six individuals, including Ward No. 1 Councilor Bunty Khan and Bunty Behera, allegedly arrived at the scene, misbehaved with the MLA, and threatened him. Subsequently, the MLA filed a complaint at the GRP Thana. The GRP police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
