Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: While illegal arms peddling cases are on the rise in Twin-Cities Bhubaneswar & Cuttack, a bomb making den has been spotted in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The incident came to limelight this evening after 4 persons, residing in the Capital City’s Sundarpada area became critical after an explosion.
Police, after the rescue operation and subsequent investigation, unveiled that the explosion was triggered while the house owner, identified as Shehnaj Alli was making bombs at his New Azad Nagar residence.
According to police, as many as 4 persons sustained critical injuries after the explosion took place at the New Azad Nagar residential area in Sundarpada.
On being informed, the Airfield Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the sleuths discovered a bomb making unit on the 1st floor of Sjehnaj Ali’s residence. At the same time, the police also digged out the crime history of Shehnaj who was entangled in various heinous offences.
Shehnaj, who is now undergoing treatment, is under police scanner. Initial investigation revealed that Shehnaj is the mastermind behind the bomb-making unit.
Further investigation is underway to unveil the entire string relating the matter, said DCP Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena.
