Bhubaneswar, Aug 30: Arun Kumar Jena, a former Technical Consultant with the District Project Office of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Mayurbhanj and currently serving as a Junior Engineer with the Rural Water Supply Scheme (RWSS) in Paralakhemundi of Gajapati district, has been convicted by the Vigilance Court in Baripada on corruption charges.
Jena was found guilty of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. He has been sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹1,00,000.
The case was registered under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code.
Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance Department is expected to request appropriate authorities to begin the process for Jena’s dismissal from his current post in the RWSS at Paralakhemundi.
