Bargarh, Jan 10: Hemant Verma, a prominent gold trader from Bargarh and owner of New Dawa Jewellers, was taken into custody by Kolkata Police after allegedly failing to pay for gold worth several lakh rupees brought from Kolkata.

Following the filing of a case at a Kolkata police station, Kolkata officers, with support from Bargarh police, traveled to Bargarh to apprehend Verma. Sub-Inspectors Prashant Kar Das and Kavita Samant led the operation.

The arrest of the well-known jeweler has stirred significant discussion in Bargarh, bringing the case into the local spotlight.
