Bhawanipatna, April 26: Just days prior to the upcoming elections in Odisha's Kalahandi Lok Sabha constituency, law enforcement authorities intercepted a vehicle en route to Chhattisgarh, seizing approximately Rs 3.7 lakh in unaccounted money.
According to reports, a pick-up van originating from Nuapada, an Assembly segment within the Lok Sabha constituency, was stopped by police near the Jolarma temple in Khariar Road, Nuapada district. During the inspection of the van, the police discovered Rs 3,70,000 in possession of two individuals traveling in the vehicle. Since the individuals failed to produce any valid documentation supporting the origin or purpose of the money, the police confiscated it and apprehended them.
A case has been filed by the police, who have initiated further investigation into the matter.
It is noteworthy that the elections for the Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat and its associated Assembly segments are scheduled for the first phase in the state on May 13th.
