Rs 110 crores to be sanctioned for police recruitment, says Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar, July 29: As law and order situation in the state is major concern due to various crimes, Rs 110.22 crores will be sanctioned from the state budget for recruiting police personnel and covering their salaries in year 2024-25, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the home portfolio.

Answering a written question raised by Chakramani Kahnar, BJD MLA from Kandhamal in assembly today regarding the police force and police station requirement in the state, Majhi said 685 police stations are functioning in the state wherein 295 outposts are also working under them. Apart from this, 122 town outposts are also operating in the state.

As many as 70936 police personnel are engaged to maintain law and order in the state.

In Odisha, the state government recognizes the need for continuous modernization and augmentation of the police force.

As of 2024-25, the government has allocated funds for specific purposes:

Rs 25.55 crore has been earmarked for modernizing the police department.

Rs 26.44 crore is allocated for the purchase of arms and ammunition for police forces.
