Mumbai, July 9: Team India conquered the world recently. Clinched the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 title. The senior pros of that triumphant Indian team are likely to be rested for the upcoming home series against neighbours Sri Lanka.

As per reports, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, Team India's three senior players are likely to be rested during the three T20Is and three ODIs at home. The matches will start from July 27.

Rohit and Kohli have announced their retirements from the T20I format. So the two veteran old war horses of Team India, were anyway not to be part of the three T20 Internationals. But the report reveals that both of them would be rested for the ODIs as well.

Bumrah, the most vital and precious cog of present Indian team setup, has been rested from Sri Lanka matches, perhaps considering his amount of workload.

The three players, the report stated have been provided rest to keep them fresh for the long cricket season ahead.

After the Lanka matches, India will play two Test matches and three T20Is against Bangladesh from September 19.

India understandably would be keen to win both Tests against Bangladesh to keep their hopes alive for the consecutive third World Test Championship Final. India have lost the two previous WTC Finals against New Zealand and Australia respectively.

Besides, Ravindra Jadeja, who announced retirement from T20Is after World Cup victory along with Rohit and Kohli, will not be a part of the T20I series against Lanka. However, he may return for the three ODIs.

But India for sure would expect all their senior players including skipper Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah and Jadeja to be fully fit for the Test matches against Bangladesh.
