Koraput, June 2: A Police Constable and 12 members of a gang were arrested on Sunday by the Koraput police in connection with robbery from a leading bizman’s house.
The Constable has been identified as Sunil Sahu.
Sources said that a gang of robbers broke into the residence of a prominent trader at Dungarveja in the Koraput district and looted cash, jewelry and other valuables.
During investigation a police constable’s connivance was revealed who had assisted a notorious gang involved in the crime. Subsequently, a huge haul of gold and silver ornaments was seized from the gang of robber with 12 members and a receiver were held following persistent raids.
The accused persons were sent to judicial custody. Further investigation underway to nab two others, who are on the run, police said.
