Cricketer Rishabh Pant is finally getting official help to buy a home in his native state of Uttarakhand. After searching for suitable property for three long years, the 28-year-old player tagged Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in an early Saturday morning post on X. Pant explained his strong desire to move his permanent base from Delhi back to his roots in Devbhoomi.

Uttarakhand has increasingly become a preferred retreat for celebrities seeking peace, leading to strict land acquisition rules for non-residents, though native-born citizens have different pathways. Born in Roorkee within the Haridwar district, Pant started his cricket training locally before moving to Delhi for professional growth. Now playing a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, the wicketkeeper-batter expressed his deep love for his home state and his wish to live among his "Pahadi people."

Government Response and Land Purchase Details

Pushkar Singh Dhami quickly responded to the public appeal, calling the young athlete the pride of Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister confirmed that he instructed officials to contact Pant and provide all possible cooperation according to current state rules. Dhami praised the cricket star for wanting to return and contribute to his motherland after achieving global success. Pant made it clear that he did not want a free property allotment. He told the Chief Minister that while a gift would be lovely, he prefers to buy the land directly from the government at official rates to build his first house.

Recent financial reports highlight how strong his connection to the region remains. For the 2025-26 financial year, Pant became the highest individual taxpayer in Uttarakhand by paying Rs 23.84 crore in income tax. His earnings stem from match fees, a central cricket board contract, major brand deals, and his recent Rs 27 crore contract with the Lucknow Super Giants. With state officials now stepping in, his long wait for a permanent Himalayan base seems close to ending.
