Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy has convened an all-party meeting on November 26 to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the upcoming winter session of the state Assembly.

The winter session will commence on Thursday, November 27, and continue until Wednesday, December 31. During the all-party meeting, the Speaker is expected to engage with leaders across the political spectrum to promote constructive discussions and uphold decorum throughout the session.

The winter session will include 19 days dedicated to official business and five days reserved for private members’ business, covering bills and resolutions. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will present the first supplementary budget for 2025–26 on November 28. Department-wise supplementary budgets are scheduled for discussion from December 4 to 6.

The Appropriation Bill linked to the supplementary budget will be taken up for consideration and passage on December 8.

President Droupadi Murmu is set to address the Assembly on the opening day—marking the first time a President of India will address members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Extensive arrangements have been put in place by the state administration for her visit, particularly significant as President Murmu hails from Odisha.

Murmu first entered the Odisha Assembly in 2000 as the elected representative from the Rajgangpur constituency. She served as Minister of State for Commerce and Transport from March 6, 2000, to August 6, 2002, and later as Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development from August 6, 2002, to May 16, 2004. She was elected to the Assembly twice, in 2000 and 2004.
