Bhubaneswar, December 7: Preparations for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, set to take place from January 8 to 10 at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, are in full swing.
A review meeting was held at the DGP Camp Office, chaired by the Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania, to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of the three-day event.
The primary focus of the meeting was on the police department’s role in managing security for the high-profile event, which will host senior Central Government ministers, overseas Indians, and dignitaries from the Ministry of External Affairs.
DGP Khurania directed the police force to implement proactive security measures to guarantee the safety of all attendees. The review covered several critical aspects, including VVIP security, seating arrangements for dignitaries, attendee safety, vehicle parking, and overall logistical management.
The DGP also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and comfort of guests staying at hotels. He instructed authorities to carry out regular inspections of hotels in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Kendrapara, and nearby districts to ensure proper guest records and compliance with security protocols.
In addition, security arrangements are being strengthened in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri, with a large number of overseas attendees expected to visit popular tourist destinations in Odisha. The DGP emphasized the importance of robust CCTV surveillance and efficient traffic management throughout the event.
