Cuttack, Oct 22: A retired army jawan allegedly attacked the Sub-Inspector (SI) and a constable of the Banki police station with a sword in Odisha’s Cuttack district with a sword today.
Sub-inspector (SI) Sambit Swain and Constable Uttam Kar sustained injuries in the attack and are currently undergoing treatment.
As per reports, the accused, identified as Saroj Das, was terrorizing people by wielding sword at Banki NAC Square. On getting the information, police arrived at the spot to apprehend Saroj when he attacked the cops with the sword.
The injured cops were rushed to Banki sub-divisional hospital for medical aid. Later, SI Sambit Swain was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as his health condition deteriorated.
It is worth mentioning that the accused soldier Saroj Das had attacked a woman in the town last month. A video clip of the incident had gone viral on social media in which he was also seen terrorizing people by wielding sword on the road.
