Sambalpur, Oct 10: Sambalpur district administration on Tuesday imposed restrictions on immersion procession during this year Durga Puja in the city.
However, Kalasa Yatra and Ravan Podi events are allowed to be organized peacefully.
It was decided in the peace committee meeting chaired by Sambalpur Collector Ananya Das in the afternoon, in presence of the Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo, Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner.
Following the meeting the SP said, “The procession of idols in the town is not allowed. But, permission has been given for Kalasa Yatra and Ravan Podi utsav,”
Puja committees are also allowed to use loudspeakers at the Puja mandaps with a limited intensity, he added.
On the other hand, the district administration and the Civic Body assured to address the community issues like roads, sanitation and essential repair of street lights before the mass festival commences.
Meanwhile, as many as five locations were unanimously identified for the artificial ponds where the idols will be immersed in an eco-friendly manner.
