Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: The recently constituted state election committee for Odisha Congress has created a buzz in the party circle.
Six-time Congress MLA from Jatni, Suresh Kumar Rautray has expressed his anguish at not getting a place in the State Election Committee of the party. As a senior leader of the party, he sarcastically said, “We are small people and unqualified leaders of the Congress. So the party did not give us place in the election committee. Even if I am removed from the post of party President, Khurda district, I don't care.”
Suresh Routray openly challenged that if Congress does not give tickets to his two sons, then he will make them win in the coming election independently. On the other hand, Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati has indirectly given some hints. He said “ After two days, an important decision will be coming . Just wait for it.”
On the contrary, ex-PCC Chief Jaydev Jena is very hopeful. He said there will be many changes in the coming days in the party. Jena said that AICC is now focusing on the Odisha Congress. The Congress on Friday constituted its state election committee for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Odisha.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC), in a release signed by KC Venugopal, said the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president would head the state election committee, which will have 18 other members.
Besides, chiefs of all frontal organisations of the party would be ex-officio members of the committee.
Congress Legislature Party leader Narsingh Mishra, former OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik, and other senior leaders are among the members of the committee.
