Bhubaneswar, Feb, 27: Resentment against Loisingha BJP MLA Mukesh Mahaling has been brewing for a few months, and as the elections approach, it has intensified within the party.
Under the leadership of Mandal president of BJP, Umesh Patel, disgruntled party leaders recently gathered in Bileisarda of Puintala Block within this constituency. They have vowed to oust sitting BJP MLA Mukesh Mahaling in the upcoming election. Their opposition is strong against his re-nomination.
The disgruntled leaders have raised several concerns about MLA Mukesh Mahaling’s performance. They alleged that Mukesh Mahaling has failed to organize any party meetings during the past two years. The MLA has been overlooking the party workers for an extended period.
The leaders claimed that Mukesh Mahaling has engaged a specific contractor for various developmental works and is allegedly receiving commissions from this contractor.
In a written letter submitted to the state party president, Manmohan Samal, they have requested that the party not to give a ticket to Mukesh Mahaling in the upcoming election.
Prominent party leaders, including Kishor Patel, Sudam Jena, Balakrushna Dharua, Ramakant Padhan, Bina Gadatya, Sitaram Padhan, Bharati Mahanda, and Pradeep Mishra, were present during this meeting.
It remains to be seen how this internal dissent within the BJP will impact the upcoming election in the Loisingha constituency.
