Puri, July 18: Repair work of the Ratna Bhandar inide the Shri Jagannath Temple Puri is essential said Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb on Thursday.
Following an overview of the Ratna Bhandar today, the Gajapati Maharaj said that the walls and floors of the Ratna Bhandar seem weakened. A lot of cracks and fissures are prominently visible in the innerwalls which indicates seepage of water from a longer time. Apart from it, the Ratna Bhandar chambers lacked usual maintenance from years ago.
Once the Ratna Bhandar Inventory functionalities are over, the entire accommodation will be handed over to the Archaelogical Survey of India(ASI) to undertake essential repair works. Meanwhile the ASI Technical Team would be asked to carry out other formalities to assess further cracks and fissures inside the walls and other components, the Gajapati added.
On the intervention of Public darshan during Ratna Bhandar maintenance, the prime servitor said utmost arrangements would be made available to deal with public inconvenience, which will keep the deities away from ease darshan.
