Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: Eminent cardiologist Dr. Jadunath Prasad Das, affectionately known as Dr. JP Das, passed away on Sunday evening while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 90.
Dr. Das was survived by his wife, the dedicated social worker Gayatri Das, his son Dr. Debabrata Das, daughter-in-law Bidya Das, and granddaughter Ishani Das.
Reports indicate that Dr. Das had been grappling with age-related ailments. Following the news of his demise, condolences poured in from various quarters, including fellow doctors and prominent figures.
Born on August 5, 1933, in Khordha, Dr. Das commenced his career with SCB Medical College and Hospital as a professor in 1962. Pioneering as the first cardiologist at SCB Medical College and Hospital, he later served as the head of the cardiology department at the same institution in Cuttack.
Subsequently, he established a Cardiology Research Centre in Cuttack. Dr. Das not only authored scientific papers but also garnered numerous awards for his contributions, standing out for both his medical expertise and social endeavors.
