Bhubaneswar, Mar 10: The Odisha Government will introduce an improvement examination for Plus II students, following the pattern used by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), officials announced on Monday. The new system will allow students to improve their marks in a subject even after appearing for the Class 12 board examinations.

Under the new provision, starting this year, students can reappear in one subject to improve their scores. The examination and results for the improvement test will be completed within two months of the declaration of the main results by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha.

Officials said the move aims to support meritorious students seeking better scores for admission to prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other competitive programmes.

In an interview with OTV, the CHSE Controller of Examinations clarified that if a student scores lower in the improvement test than in the original exam, the higher marks from the main exam will remain valid.

However, the opportunity will only be available to students who have passed the main examination; those who fail the board exams will not be eligible for the improvement test.

The initiative is expected to provide students with a fair chance to enhance their academic performance and improve their prospects for higher education.
