Mumbai, Dec 9: A major update regarding the much-awaited sequel to the iconic film 3 Idiots has surfaced, bringing excitement among fans. According to media reports, director Rajkumar Hirani is preparing the sequel 15 years after the release of the original film, fulfilling a long-standing wish of the audience.

The original film revolved around the lives of three engineering students, played by Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, with Kareena Kapoor Khan in a pivotal role. As per a report by Pinkvilla, the script for “3 Idiots 2” has been completed, and the entire team is reportedly enthusiastic about the project.

Sources suggest that the sequel will aim to recreate the emotional depth, humour, and strong messaging that made the first film a blockbuster. Apart from the original trio, Kareena Kapoor is also expected to return for the second instalment. If confirmed, this will mark Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s reunion on the big screen after 15 years.

The film is expected to go on floors next year, although the makers have not yet released an official announcement.

Director Rajkumar Hirani had been considering the sequel for a long time. He had also been working on plans for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, but reports indicate that the biopic has been put on hold temporarily as Hirani shifts his focus to 3 Idiots 2.
