Madrid (Spain), July 16: France forward Kylian Mbappe stated it was his childhood dream to join Real Madrid. His mother was in tears as he received the Real Madrid jersey on Tuesday.
More than 80,000 fans were present at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium to welcome the 25-year-old France star during his official presentation as the club's newest player. Mbappe took over as Karim Benzema's Number 9 jersey.
LaLiga giants Real Madrid unveiled their latest signing Mbappe, as he wore the jersey No 9. The forward had joined the club on June 3 ending a stretched out transfer saga.
The French captain gave an emotional speech after joining the club and thanked the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez for making the move possible. Mbappe said that for many years, he had dreamt of playing for the club and he is glad that it is finally turned into reality.
Mbappe's family was emotional during the ceremony as well, with his mother in tears during his first speech to the fans.
Mbappe, is one of the leading soccer stars of the present generation and Real Madrid hope he will be an asset for them.
