Cuttack, Sept 17: Ravenshaw Alumni Association on Tueseday raised protest against the name change row of the premier institute, the Ravenshaw University, that’s wreaking a mixed response among the intellectuals and common citizens.
Critisizing the articles of Cuttack MP, Bhartruhari Mahtab favouring the varsity’s name change notion, the Alumni Association has demamded Central University status to Ravenshaw.
Sources said, antipating rename of the ancient Ravenshaw College which has been upgraded as the Ravenshaw University, hundreds of alumni gathered before the College main gate and protested the ongoing debate over the poposed name change. Meanwhile, the leaders of the Student’s Unity raised the issues of vacant posts of faculties in various departments, and demanded to fill-up them with recent recruitment.
“Ravenshaw College, its pious soil is a part of our imotion. The institute is as respectable as our mother because it has nourished us and nurtured like its sons & daughters”, said some students, praying the social leaders and politicians to stop the silly debate on the historic institute.
