Puri, May 4: The world-famous Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath is scheduled for July 16, and the Puri administration has already swung into high gear to ensure a smooth and safe celebration. Every department is on alert as preparations move forward, with detailed plans being coordinated well in advance.

As part of the pre-event arrangements, the first coordination committee meeting is set for July 8 under the chairmanship of the Central Revenue Commissioner. The meeting will take place at Puri Town Hall, with the Central RDC presiding over the proceedings.

Authorities anticipate that this year’s festival will see double the number of devotees compared to last year, reflecting the growing global appeal of the event. The upcoming meeting will cover extensive planning for all aspects of the Ratha Yatra, including:

· Collection and preparation of chariot wood

· Chariot construction and cleaning

· Gathering and supply of various materials for the festival

· Storage of chariot fabrics

· Policy formulation and oversight

· Chariot ropes and rigging

· Health and sanitation arrangements

· Supply of drinking water and electricity

· Transportation and road repairs

· Parking arrangements and traffic management

· Security and peacekeeping measures

· Public information and broadcasting

· Organization of cultural programs, Pallishree fairs, and exhibitions

· Deployment of volunteers

The meeting will be attended by key officials, including the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, Chief Administrator of the Shri Mandir, sevayats, members of the management committee, intellectuals, and media representatives, to ensure that every detail is addressed.

With meticulous planning underway, Puri is set to host yet another grand, colorful, and safe Ratha Yatra, welcoming millions of devotees from across the country and abroad.
