Rayagada, March 3: Three teachers have been booked for allegedly supplying chits to students during the ongoing matriculation examination at Kailashpur Government High School under Kolnara block of the district.

The action followed a written complaint lodged by District Education Officer Ramachandra Nahak at Chandili Police Station. The incident has triggered widespread concern in the district.

The alleged malpractice came to light during a surprise inspection by a flying squad led by Additional District Education Officers Shantilata Muni and Sasmita Behera. During the visit, two teachers from outside schools were reportedly found interacting with invigilators and assisting students with answers instead of performing their assigned duties outside the examination centre.

The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the District Education Officer for further action.

Those named in the complaint include Bishikeshan Bag, Headmaster and Centre Superintendent of Kailashpur High School; Swaraj Behera of Badakhilapadar High School; and Shailendra Swain of Bhoimada High School.

A meeting was subsequently held at the District Education Office to review the situation. District Collector Ashutosh Kulkarni and the Board authorities were informed about the development.

Following their directions, a formal complaint was filed against the three accused teachers. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the alleged examination malpractice.
