Puri, July 7: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Puri Grand Road to have darshan of the Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra as the two-day Rath Yatra began today.
Odisha Chief Minsiter Mohan Charan Majhi, former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other dignitaries inlcuding Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Puri MP Sambit Patra also offered prayers at the Grand Road.
Lakhs of devotees from across the country have gathered on the Grand Road to take a glimpse of the trinity. The three gigantic chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are ready to be pulled by the devotees.
The holy trinity accompamied by the Chakraraj Sudarshan came one by one to their respective chariots on a ceremonial procession called Dhadi Pahandi. The Chhera Panhara Niti (chariot sweeping ritual) was being performed by Gajapati Dibyasingha Deba.
