Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: Two students tragically lost their lives after drowning in the Kuakhai River on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The victims, both from outside Odisha, were students at a private coaching institute in the city.

According to reports, the students had gone to the riverbank with a group of friends for a picnic. After finishing their meal, several members of the group entered the river to bath. During this time, the two students were swept away by the strong current and drowned.

The victims were quickly rushed to Capital Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. At the time of the incident, around seven to eight friends were present at the spot, and local residents, along with the students’ companions, made efforts to rescue them. Despite their best attempts, the rescue efforts were unsuccessful.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
