Bhubaneswar, April 26: An elderly man has been arrested on Sunday for attempting rape to an MBA girl, barging into the hostel.

The incident has raised question on the safety&security of girls residing in hostels, as a 67 year old man was nabbed by the Infovalley Police  today after committing the heinous crime.

The accused has been identified as Dipak Pradhan, reportedly a shopkeeper of the locality.

According to the complaint, the MBA girl was in her hostel room while the man barged into it and sexually assaulted her. Meanwhie, he allegedly attempted to rape the girl.

Acting on the parent’s complaint based on the ward’s ordeal, the police initiated an investigation and nabbed the accused immediately who was about to run.

Further investigation is underway. The accused will be remanded to judicial custody after interrogation and other legal compliances, said the investigation  officer.
