Los Angeles, February 2: The Dalai Lama has secured his first-ever Grammy award, winning in the Spoken Word category for his albumMeditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The 90-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader received the prestigious Golden Gramophone during the 68th Grammy Awards, which took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Hosted by Trevor Noah, the star-studded event celebrated the best in music across more than 90 categories. While fans of the Dalai Lama celebrated his victory in Dharamshala and beyond, Indian and Indian-origin nominees, including sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar, the fusion band Shakti, and artist Siddhant Bhatia, did not secure a win despite being in the running.
