New Delhi, Nov 24: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday mourned the death of veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, who passed away at the age of 89 in Mumbai.

Widely celebrated as Hindi cinema’s “He-Man,” Dharmendra leaves behind an extraordinary legacy spanning decades of memorable performances.

President Murmu, paying tribute on X, described Dharmendra’s passing as “a great loss to Indian cinema.” She hailed him as one of the most popular actors of his time, noting that his illustrious career produced countless unforgettable roles.

“As a towering figure of Indian cinema, he leaves behind a legacy which will continue to inspire young generations of artists,” she wrote, extending condolences to his family, friends and admirers.

PM Modi mourned the passing of Dharmendra, remembering him as a timeless icon whose roles, humility and warmth touched millions.

“The passing of Dharmendra Ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality… admired for his simplicity, humility and warmth,” the Prime Minister said. He offered prayers for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family.
