Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: In a major development in the sensational Niladri Vihar taxi driver murder case, the prime accused, Dinesh Nayak, surrendered before the Jagatsinghpur Town Police on Tuesday night. Police officials confirmed that he is currently being interrogated and will be produced before a court on Wednesday.

According to sources, Dinesh, a resident of Arilo village under Balikuda police limits in Jagatsinghpur district, walked into the Jagatsinghpur Sadar Police Station and reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that he wanted to surrender. Following the information, Commissionerate Police reached Jagatsinghpur and began questioning him.

The case, believed to have stemmed from a love triangle, has taken a dramatic turn with the emergence of CCTV footage. The viral videos circulating on social media show the victim, taxi driver Satyabrata Pradhan, running for his life after the attack. Another video reportedly shows a man and a woman walking together, suspected to be Dinesh and his girlfriend Liza. However, police have not officially confirmed their identities in the footage.

Meanwhile, police have detained Liza for questioning in connection with the murder. She is being interrogated at the Chandrasekharpur Police Station. Investigators have also questioned the house owner, tenants, and neighbors, recording their statements as part of the ongoing probe.

Police said that Liza and her former boyfriend Dinesh will be interrogated face-to-face. Sources indicate that Liza has allegedly changed her statements multiple times during questioning.

As part of the investigation, statements are being recorded under Section 180 of the BNSS, and call detail records (CDR) are being examined. A senior woman inspector has been assigned to record the statements. Liza’s residence has been sealed, and police have conducted a search at her beauty parlour to gather further evidence.

The incident occurred late on the night of the 8th, when Satyabrata Pradhan was allegedly murdered by having his throat slit in the Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar. The investigation is ongoing.
