Mumbai, Aug 31: Acclaimed actor Rajkummar Rao celebrated his 40th birthday on Saturday by unveiling the first look of his upcoming action thriller, “Maalik”. Directed by Pulkit, known for films like “Dedh Beegha Zameen,” “Bose: Dead/Alive,” and “Bhakshak,” the film's poster was revealed on Rajkummar’s Instagram. The poster features Rajkummar in an intense stance atop a jeep, armed with an AK-47, with a line of trucks lined up before him. It carries the intriguing tagline: “Maalik. Paida nahi ho sakta ban toh sakta hai.”
In his Instagram post, Rajkummar welcomed fans to the world of “Maalik” with the caption: “#Maalik ki duniya mein aapka swagat hai. Shoot shuru ho chuka hai, jald hi mulaqat hogi!” The film marks Rajkummar’s debut as a gangster in an action-packed thriller, with an extensive shoot schedule across various locations in India.
Produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner and Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films, “Maalik” promises to be a major addition to Rajkummar’s diverse filmography. Since his debut in 2010 with “Love Sex Aur Dhokha,” Rajkummar has acted in over 30 films, earning critical acclaim and a National Award. His career gained momentum with notable films such as “Kai Po Che!” and “Shahid,” followed by successful roles in “Queen,” “Aligarh,” “Bareilly Ki Barfi,” and “Newton.”
In addition to “Maalik,” Rajkummar is also working on “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,” directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. This film, starring Triptii Dimri, explores the turmoil in a small town triggered by a VHS tape featuring an intimate video from the 1990s.
