Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: The Odisha Vigilance Department has set a new benchmark by ordering investigations into a record 125 cases between April 1 and December 31, 2025.

This milestone was disclosed during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.The total number of cases cracked by the department in 2025 is 488.

The review underscored the department’s strong focus on cases related to disproportionate assets, which accounted for 173 investigations—the highest among all categories. The Vigilance Department’s performance has drawn national appreciation, with the State Vigilance Academy earning ISO 9001:2015 certification for enhanced infrastructure and quality training standards.

During 2025, the department conducted 487 raids, shut down 1,199 bank accounts linked to corruption, and seized extensive assets. These included 153 buildings, 417 plots of land, 12 farmhouses, and 18.3 kilograms of gold. In addition, deposits worth ₹36.69 crore and cash amounting to ₹8.8 crore were recovered.

Chief Minister Majhi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating corruption and urged the Vigilance Department to sustain its momentum. Discussions during the meeting also focused on strengthening institutional capacity through recruitment and filling vacant positions, with the Chief Minister assuring that a decision on these matters would be taken soon.

Senior officials present at the meeting included Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar, and Director of Vigilance Yashwant Kumar Jethwa.
