Bhubaneswar: Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey inaugurates a photo exhibition titled 'Dilip Tirkey and the Spirit of Hockey in Odisha” at State Museum here on Wednesday. The exhibition will conclude on 28th December.

 

This is the third edition of hockey legend Dilip Tirkey’s photo exhibition hosted by senior photographer Shamim Qureshi in the capital city of Odisha.    

 While seeing some of his rare photographs Padma Shree Dilip Tirkey expressed “I am not only surprised but also feel great. These rare photographs refreshed my memories. In the last three decades I saw many photographers in the country as well as abroad, but Shamim Qureshi’s commitment towards his profession is commendable”.  

 

With tears Dilip said “I came to know that on Tuesday Shamim bhai lost his elder sister at Kolkata thought he will postpone the exhibition. However, he rushed to Kolkata and attended the last rituals of his sister and returned to join the inaugural season of the photo exhibition dot on time at Bhubaneswar. In my life I never saw such a committed photographer”.       

 

While appreciating Shamim Qureshi's brilliant work, Odisha Cricket Association President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty said, "Such photo exhibition will be an inspiration to other hockey players. As a sports administrator, I appreciate it."

 

 

Shamim said “All these photographs were clicked by me. In the year 1996 first, I saw Dilip Tirkey and clicked his photograph. His dedication and hardwork impressed me a lot. Later he emerged as the best defender of India”. 

 

Iconic hockey players of the State Olympian Amit Rohidas, Roshan Minz, Dipasan Tirkey, Lilima Minz, Namita Toppo and many more sports persons visited the exhibition.
