Bhubaneswar: Four goals by Domene Tomas powered Argentina to smash India by 8-0 in the FIH Men’s Hockey Pro League at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium Rourkela on Thursday.

 

While India’s Aditya Arjun moving with the balls inside the circle was pushed by Ruiz Tomas and India earned a penalty stroke. The finest chance to score for the host, but unlucky Indian skipper Harmanpreet Singh missed the chance, all credit to Argentina goalkeeper Santiago Tomas who stopped the stroke.

 

In a counter attack Ruiz Tomas pushed the ball to Lucas and moved to a free place, Lucas ' back pass received by Ruiz and he opened the account for Argentina in the 13th minute. In the last minute of the first quarter Domene Tomas doubled the lead in the 15th minute.

 

Argentinian were in rampage in the second quarter by nailing five goals, Domene scored a brace in the 20th and 27th minutes. In between Mendez Lucio, Ibarra Ignacia and Torre Nicolas joined the party by scoring a goal each in the 22nd , 25th and 30th minutes respectively. The first-half scoreboard read as 7-0 in favour of Argentina.   The third quarter remained goalless and the match moved to the final quarter. In the 59th minute, again Domene scored for Argentina and the team registered a 8-0 victory against the host.
