Bhadrak, Feb 22: In an unprecedented incident in Odisha’s Bhadrak, a railway level-crossing bar accidentally fell on commuters on Thursday.
The incident took place at the Baralapokhari level-crossing near the Charampa Railway Station in the afternoon.
Sources said, the crew member of the Baralapokhari level-crossing closed the gate for passage of a train. He opened up the gate from the switch room after the train passed the point. Meanwhile, the straining wire of the level-crossing gate broke all of a sudden while a number of commuters were crossing the train line. As a result, the level-crossing bar reportedly fell on some bikers who were passing by the tracks. However, no casualty was reported as the bar leaned on a number of bikes and helmets. Following the incident, the gatekeeper lifted up the bar manually for easy passage of the commuters.
