​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, September 15: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Odisha in October, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Bhakta Charan Das said on Tuesday.

Das said the state Congress has sent a proposal for Gandhi’s visit and that he is expected to attend the‘Chhatra Ki Gunj’ programme in Bhubaneswar. The event is likely to draw around 20,000 youths and will focus on issues concerning the Gen-Z population.

“We have sent a proposal in this regard. Rahul Gandhi is very likely to attend the ‘Chhatra Ki Gunj’ programme in Bhubaneswar, where around 20,000 youths are expected to participate. The event will focus on issues concerning Gen-Z,” Das said.

With the upcoming Panchayat elections in mind, the Congress is also preparing to organise a series of programmes across Odisha, the PCC chief said.

As part of the campaign, the party will launch a padayatras from Nabarangapur on October 2, with Congress workers participating in the march. Das said committees would be constituted to monitor the padayatras.

He further said that Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the Karnataka Chief Minister are expected to visit Odisha between January and February as part of the party’s campaign activities.

A major programme is also scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar in October, where issues affecting the youth will be discussed in detail, Das added.
