Bhubaneswar, Aug 20: A serious allegation of ragging has emerged from Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar, where a first-year student has accused a senior of severe misconduct on campus.
Sources said, Ayushman Pati, a first-year undergraduate student from the Commerce department, has alleged that Rajan Panda, another student of the college, misbehaved with him and forced him to walk naked within the college premises.
According to Ayushman's complaint, the incident occurred on August 1. He claimed that he reported the matter to college authorities the very next day, August 2, and also approached the institution’s Anti-Ragging Cell. However, Ayushman alleged that no action was taken against the accused despite the seriousness of the complaint.
Left with no alternative, Ayushman subsequently filed a complaint at the local police station, sources said.
As of now, there has been no official response from the college administration, the accused student, or the police regarding the incident or the status of the investigation.
The incident has raised concerns among students and parents about the effectiveness of anti-ragging mechanisms in reputed educational institutions. Calls for a transparent inquiry and strict action are growing, with many urging the college to take the matter seriously to ensure student safety and uphold campus discipline.
