Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: Odisha Vigilance on Monday conducted simultaneous searches at five locations in Balasore and Sundargarh districts in connection with allegations of possession of disproportionate assets against Rabindra Kumar Barik, Junior Accountant in the office of the District Manager, Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) Ltd., Sundargarh.
The searches were conducted following allegations that the official had accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income.
The operation was carried out on the basis of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore. A Vigilance team led by three Deputy Superintendents of Police and assisted by six Inspectors, along with other supporting staff conducted the searches.
According to Vigilance sources, the simultaneous searches are underway at a residential triple-storeyed building belonging to Barik at Gopalgaon in Balasore, a triple-storeyed market complex along with a gym at the same locality, and a Kalyan Mandap in Balasore. In addition, the teams are also searching his office premises at Sundargarh and his rented residential house in the district.
Officials said the action is part of a wider investigation to verify the extent of assets allegedly possessed by the accused official.
