Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Friday informed that the proposed queue system for darshan at Puri Jagannath Temple will be implemented from September 15.
Harichandan stated that the queue system at Srimandir will be implemented once the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee is formed.
He added that after the panel's constitution, its first meeting would decide on relocating the Hundi from the Jagamohan area and assured that the temple administration is fully prepared to introduce the system.
Harichandan further mentioned that the Managing Committee would be formed by September 3 or 4, after which arrangements would be finalized to ensure smooth darshan.
He stated that the introduction of the queue system would improve crowd management, allowing devotees to have a more disciplined darshan of the deities.
It is worth noting that the Srimandir Managing Committee, which plays a crucial role in overseeing the affairs of the 12th-century shrine, has been inactive since its tenure expired in August 2024.
The delay in forming a new panel has sparked criticism from temple servitors and devotees, especially concerning sensitive matters such as the Ratna Bhandar inventory and this year’s Ratha Jatra stampede.
