Puri, July 27: A fire was reported in Puri-Angul Passenger on Saturday while the train was leaving for the Puri from the Malatipatpur station.
The incident took place on the Huluhulia railway bridge, a few kilometers away from the Malatipatpur railway station.
The train resumed on its route after the flames were brought under control and the railway safety official allowed it to pass on.
Sources said, the Angul-Puri Passenger was leaving for the Puri Station in the morning. At about 11.30 a fire with smoky exhaust came out from one of its wheels while the train wass passing the Huluhulia Bridge. On being aware of the exhausts, railway crew members stopped the train and began drousing the fire. Getting informed, the railway safety officials also rushed to the spot to take stock of the matter. After an hour long effort, the problem was dealt with and the train moved for the Puri Station.
The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, it’s anticipated that a spark from the Traction Moter, wreaked fire under the train.
Following the incident, an enquiry was initiated into the matter to rule out manmade glitches behind the mishap.
