Puri, August 2: Three persons have been summoned to appear before authorities for climbing onto the chariots of the Trinity during the Rath Yatra wearing servitor outfits and carrying fake passes, Puri police said on Friday.
The three, identified as Rajesh Kumar Sahu of Gandia village in Dhenkanal district, Prasanna Kumar Behura of Kusumpur village in Kendrapara district and Gopalkrushna Polanki of Brahmapur in Ganjam district were caught on camera climbing onto the chariots.
The unauthorised presence of these three persons on the chariots was confirmed after checking of CCTV footage and drone camera images provided by the temple administration following filling of two criminal cases at the Simhadwar and Kumbharpara police stations by temple administrator Ajay Kumar Jena.
Rajesh and Prasanna were found on the chariots on the day of Rath Yatra dressed as servitors and holding fake passes. Similarly, Gopalkrushna was removed from the chariot under the direction of the chief administrator during the Bahuda Yatra.
A show-cause notice has also been issued to a Daitapti servitor who allegedly facilitated the entry of non-servitors following a complaint lodged at Kumbharpara police station.
