Puri, June 19: Puri district police have stepped up extensive preparations to ensure the smooth and incident-free conduct of the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.
This year, the entire Puri city will be brought under AI-powered camera surveillance to strengthen security and crowd management during the grand festival. The AI-enabled cameras have been installed on both sides of the Grand Road (Bada Danda) to monitor and regulate the movement of devotees and prevent overcrowding.
In a major security drive ahead of the annual chariot festival, police have also launched a crackdown on known criminals operating in the city. Several offenders have been arrested and sent to jail to ensure the safety of pilgrims visiting Puri during the event.
Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) has issued a stern warning to anti-social elements, stating that any form of criminal activity during the Rath Yatra will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against violators.
Additionally, police teams have begun conducting raids and verification drives at hotels, guest houses, and lodges across the city as part of the comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming festival.
