Bhubaneswar, Sep 3: The Jagannath Temple in Puri will be closed to devotees for five hours tomorrow to observe Bamana Janma Niti, a sacred ritual celebrating the birth of Lord Vamana, the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
As per reports, the 12th-century shrine will restrict public entry from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Thursday to allow for the smooth conduct of the ritual. During this time, special ceremonies will be performed by designated servitors for the temple’s presiding deities — Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
Public darshan will be suspended after the Madhyahna Dhupa (midday offering) to facilitate the proceedings without disruption.
Bamana Janma Niti marks the ceremonial birth of Lord Vamana. As part of the observance, the sibling deities will be adorned in special attire, with Lord Jagannath taking the form of Bali Bamana to honor the occasion.
