Sundargarh, Nov 19: Amresh Mohanty, the Sundargarh District Manager of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), tragically lost his life in a road accident near Phaguapada under the Sundargarh Sadar police limits today.

Reports suggest that Mohanty was crossing the road when a speeding trailer truck, coming from the Rourkela side, struck him. He succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The incident occurred while Mohanty was inspecting a vehicle. As per eyewitness accounts, he was attempting to cross to the other side of the road when the tragic accident took place.

The collision occurred on State Highway 10, where ongoing road repair work has closed the left lane, forcing all vehicles to use the right lane. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
