Puri, Nov 13: The buildings along the Grand Road or the 'Bada Danda' in Puri are slated to undergo a standardized color transformation. Whether designated for commercial or residential purposes, the building facades will be uniformly adorned in a soft shade of pink.
The existing ivory hue that currently graces the buildings on both sides of the Grand Road is expected to transition to this light pink palette. The decision to implement this alteration was made on Saturday during the visit of VK Pandian, the chairperson of 5T.
Sources said, a comprehensive evaluation considered 14 different colors, including white and pink, with a consensus ultimately favoring the adoption of light pink. Upon the enforcement of these guidelines, if building owners fail to comply with the designated color scheme, the government reserves the right to undertake the repainting process on their behalf. However, the associated costs for the subsequent fresh coats will be the responsibility of the building owners.
Puri Sub-Collector, Bhabataran Sahu, expressed that a uniform color scheme would enhance the spiritual ambiance for visitors. Moreover, the residents of Puri have appealed to the government to assume the expenses for the painting, drawing parallels to the government's financial support during the 'Nabakalebar,' which saw buildings adorned in a light yellow hue.
Note worthy, there is a targeted initiative to complete the color transformation of the prominent roadside buildings before the commencement of the Srimandir Heritage Corridor Project.
