MP Aparajita Sarangi inaugurates clean fuel for city residents.

Bhubaneswar: Residents in the Temple City are taking a significant step toward a cleaner and safer lifestyle. State-owned energy major GAIL has officially commenced its Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) supply at two major residential complexes in Bhubaneswar. This initiative helps push the boundaries of the National PNG Drive 2.0, aiming to bring reliable green energy to households across the region.

Cosmopolis Joins the Green Energy Map

Ceremonies kicked off at the Cosmopolis Residential Society in Khandagiri. This massive complex, which houses 835 flats, has now been integrated into the city’s expanding gas grid. Kausik Das, General Manager-CGD at GAIL, along with other senior officials, welcomed Bhubaneswar Member of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi to lead the inauguration.

MP Sarangi, who turned the valve to symbolically start the Piped Natural Gas supply, spoke passionately about the shift toward gas-based economies. She highlighted her personal experience with PNG, noting that she uses it at her own residence. According to the parliamentarian, the switch offers families an uninterrupted fuel source that is safer, cheaper, and far more convenient than traditional cylinders.

Expansion to Aiginia

Following the event at Khandagiri, the team moved to Aiginia to launch services at Shreekhetra Residency. This society, comprising 144 flats, also received its formal connection to the GAIL network. Residents gathered to celebrate the move, appreciating the infrastructure development that removes the hassle of booking and waiting for LPG refills.

A Step Toward a Gas-Based Economy

During her address, MP Sarangi reiterated that these local launches are vital building blocks for the Government of India’s larger vision. Promoting Piped Natural Gas supply is not just about convenience; it is about reducing carbon footprints and ensuring energy security for the nation.

GAIL, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise, continues to lead this charge. With the successful commissioning of these connections, the company has reinforced its promise to provide smart energy solutions to the people of Odisha.
